What is Naprapathy?

Naprapathy is a branch of the natural healing arts that focuses on the evaluation and treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.  Doctors of Naprapathy use manual manipulation to release tension in connective tissue, tissues that connect bone to muscle such as ligaments and tendons.  Tension findings are taken on the spinal column and joints to determine the correct course of treatment.  The treatment serves to normalize neuromuscular and cardiovascular functions.

How does naprapathic manipulation help?

The human brain is the central computer of our bodies.  There are 31 pairs of nerve trunks that extend from the brain down the spinal column.  Each fiber has nerve endings that feed energy and commands to each organ, tissue and cell.  When our body feels pain or discomfort, it is telling us this energy is not flowing as it should.

What is Cranio-Sacral Therapy?

CST is a gentle, hands on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the cranio-sacral system.  This system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord.  Using soft touch, the practitioner manipulates the bones of the skull to release restrictions in the CST system to improve functioning of the central nervous system.  This therapy is used to treat a wide range of conditions. from headache to stroke.  Cranial manipulation is generally used to improve body functioning.                                Additional information may be obtained at www.upledger.com

Colon Therapy & Colonoscopy Preparation
Many patients and doctors are using colon therapy as the preferred preparation to clean the lower bowel. Some of the medicines given to prepare for the procedure have "black box" warnings and many side effects. If you are scheduled to have a colonoscopy, ask your physician if you may use colon hydrotherapy to prepare.

How is colon hydrotherapy different from an enema?

Colon hydrotherapy is filtered temperature controlled and pressure regulated water that is infused into the entire colon. This process allows for waste to be gently removed. An enema usually covers only the rectum and sigmoid, the last 8 to 12 inches of the large intestine/colon, while a colonic covers the entire length.

What can I expect during my session?

On your first visit to the office, you will complete a health intake form which will give information about your current state of health. This allows the therapist to determine if colon therapy is right for you.  Some health conditions are contraindicated. A brief consultation is provided before the session begins and following the session.  The sessions are 30-45 minutes for the first appointment and is 45 to 60 minutes for each session after the first appointment.  The therapist will provide a gentle massage of the abdomen with permission.                                             A more detailed consultation may be arranged with prior notice for an additional cost.

How many sessions are recommended?

If you have been eating a Standard American Diet for most of your life, then you need to work on improving your nutrition. We suggest receiving 2-4 colonic sessions the first month as you increase your water, increase the fiber foods in your diet. Many clients choose to begin an herbal bowel cleanse or liver cleanse if not contraindicated. Once you've completed the initial cleansing phase, consider receiving 1-3 sessions each season.  Remember your body is making new cells and tissue and is rejuvenating itself.  As you become more conscious of your health and fitness you eagerly break old habits.

Will I be embarrassed?

No, your dignity and privacy are protected at all times.  You will place your own nozzle or speculum once instructed by your therapist and you will be completely covered during the entire session.

What should I do before a session?

First you know your daily habits. Please increase your intake of water,at least 8 (8 oz) glasses per day, began eating a variety of fiber foods daily  prior to your appointment. The intake of some fresh, raw fruit and vegetables 2-3 days prior is encouraged. Avoid fast foods, greasy foods at least 24 hours before your appointment.  On the day of your appointment do not eat two hours prior to a session, you may have liquid foods, such as smoothies, protein drinks, herbal teas and of course water.  ** If you have any health conditions, please inform us**

Since you are beginning a cleansing program we encourage that you stop fried foods, white sugar, & white flour & refined foods.  We encourage the increase of fresh fruits and vegetables.

After a session, how might I expect to feel?

Many patients report feeling light and refreshed.  Some report feeling drained and tired.  If you are eating a SAD(standard american diet), not drinking water, and eating lots of fast foods you may feel tired after your session.  Rest and drinking plenty of fluids will return your energy within a 24 hour period.

Will I have a bowel movement the next day?

Many times clients report having daily bowel movements even though we are passing tiny balls.  If this is happening with you, you may not have a bowel movement 24 hours after the session.  Your digestive tract needs time to build energy to make a movement happen.  Please let your therapist know how your movements have been.

Will I have any discomfort?

Occasionally you will experience cramping during the session that will ease once the session is over.

Very rarely will you experience more intense cramping, please let your therapist know if this occurs.

We are unable to tell you if you will experience any discomfort before your appointment, but we encourage you to follow the session preparation guidelines to make your session easier.

Will colon hydrotherapy help even though I have suffered from constipation for a long time?

You will not walk out after one appointment and began having daily or 2-3 times per day bowel movements.  We have clients who have improved after several appointments and by following the recommendations regarding improving their nutrition and increasing water intake.

What about the water used for colon hydrotherapy?

Only filtered purified water is used during the session, no tap water.

What kind of kind of diet shall I follow after getting a colon hydrotherapy session?

You will be encouraged to eat a light meal for 24 hours following your session, such as fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, & soups.  Avoid fried foods, cheese, dairy, breads, white flour, white sugar, meats and alcoholic beverages.

Will only one session do the job?

One session will remove some toxins and waste, however, it has taken a lifetime to get to where you are now. Remember to check with your therapist for more details.
